Common faults
- Bellhousing rattle: have a specialist find the cause.
- Clutch slip: the revs rise without the car pulling harder. Have a specialist log it.
- Launch control: repeated launches and heat add clutch wear.
- After gearbox work: the TCM's clutch learn is run with the gearbox warm. Your specialist does this after fitting.
Common upgrades
Dodson lists replacement gear circlips and uprated clutch packs. Dodson rates its Superstock 7 for builds up to 1,100 hp and its Sportsman's 8 for up to 1,600 hp.

Dodson rates its Promax 10 for builds up to about 2,500 hp and recommends its Extreme Duty 1-6 gearset above about 1,500 hp. These are Dodson's own ratings. Clutch capacity is about torque, so match the packs to your build with your tuner.

What causes R35 bellhousing rattle?
Nissan's owner's manual says some GR6 rattle is normal, from gear clearances, the light flywheel and dry-sump lubrication. A new or worsening rattle needs a specialist to find the cause.
Do you build GR6 gearboxes?
No. We supply parts. Your gearbox specialist does the build.
When do I need upgraded clutch packs?
When your tune makes more torque than the stock packs hold. Dodson rates its Superstock 7, Sportsman's 8 and Promax 10 kits for builds up to 1,100 hp, 1,600 hp and 2,500 hp. Ask your tuner which suits your build.
Does the TCM need a relearn after clutch work?
Yes. A clutch learn is run after work inside the gearbox, with the gearbox warm. Tools such as Cobb's have the routine. Your specialist runs it after fitting.
