About the R34 GT-R

The R34 Skyline GT-R, chassis code BNR34, went on sale in Japan in January 1999, and Nissan built the last cars in early August 2002. Every one has the 2.6-litre RB26DETT twin-turbo straight six, a six-speed Getrag gearbox and four-wheel drive. That gives it a lot in common with the R32 and R33 GT-R, but there are enough differences that it pays to know exactly which car you have before you order.

The main dividing line is the facelift. Series 2 cars were built from August 2000 and went on sale that October. As well as white indicator lenses and interior changes, they gained the larger 322mm rear brake rotors that had only been fitted to the V-Spec N1 before. Series 1 cars use 300mm rear rotors, while the 324mm front Brembo set-up is the same across the whole run. The grade matters too: the V-Spec, V-Spec II, M-Spec and Nür use ATTESA E-TS Pro with an active rear differential, while the standard GT-R uses ATTESA E-TS.

Many engine and drivetrain parts are shared between the R32, R33 and R34 GT-R, so a lot of what's listed here fits more than one of them. Every product page has a "Vehicles this part fits" table. Check it against your car's build date and grade. If you're not sure, send us both before you order.

R34 GT-R fitment notes

  • Series 1 (built Jan 1999 to Jul 2000): GT-R, V-Spec, V-Spec N1. 300 x 22mm rear rotors (V-Spec N1: 322 x 22mm).
  • Series 2 (built from Aug 2000, on sale Oct 2000): GT-R, V-Spec II, V-Spec II N1, M-Spec (May 2001), V-Spec II Nür and M-Spec Nür (Feb 2002). 322 x 22mm rear rotors with a different rear caliper on every car.
  • Front brakes: Brembo 4-pot with 324 x 30mm rotors on every R34 GT-R. The disc size matches the R33 GT-R, but R34 front calipers mount with larger M14 bolts (R32 and R33: M12), so calipers don't swap straight across. See our guide to choosing GT-R brake rotors (/guides/gtr-brake-rotors).
  • Bonnet: the V-Spec II has a carbon bonnet with a NACA duct. The standard GT-R and the M-Spec have an aluminium bonnet.
  • Drive: ATTESA E-TS on the standard GT-R. ATTESA E-TS Pro with an active rear LSD on the V-Spec, V-Spec II, M-Spec and Nür.
  • Nür: N1-based engine with gold cam covers.
  • Gearbox: six-speed Getrag. The R32 and R33 GT-R use a five-speed, so gearbox parts don't swap across.
  • Clutch: pull-type from the factory. See our R34 GT-R clutch slip guide (/guides/r34-clutch-slip).
  • Wheels: 18 x 9J, offset +30, on 245/40ZR18 tyres. 5x114.3 PCD, M12 x 1.25 wheel nuts, 66.1mm centre bore.
  • Blow-off valves: see our Skyline blow-off valve guide (/guides/skyline-blow-off-valve) before you choose one.

R34 GT-R parts: common questions

Which years was the R34 GT-R made?

The BNR34 went on sale in January 1999, and production ended in early August 2002. Series 1 cars were built up to July 2000, and series 2 cars from August 2000.

Do R33 GT-R parts fit the R34 GT-R?

Many engine and service parts do, as both use the RB26DETT. The front discs are the same 324mm size, but R34 front calipers mount with M14 bolts, against M12 on the R33, so calipers don't swap straight across. Factory wheels differ too: 17 x 9J +30 on the R33 and 18 x 9J +30 on the R34, on the same 5x114.3 bolt pattern. The R34's six-speed Getrag gearbox and its body panels don't swap across. Check the "Vehicles this part fits" table on each product.

What are the R34 GT-R wheel bolt pattern and nut size?

5x114.3 PCD with M12 x 1.25 wheel nuts and a 66.1mm centre bore, the same as the R32 and R33 GT-R.

What changed between series 1 and series 2?

Series 2 cars, built from August 2000, got the larger 322mm rear brakes on every grade, white indicator lenses and interior trim changes. The V-Spec II replaced the V-Spec, with a carbon bonnet. The M-Spec followed in May 2001, and the Nür models in February 2002.

Which rear brake rotors does my R34 GT-R need?

Series 1 cars use 300 x 22mm rear rotors, except the V-Spec N1, which uses 322 x 22mm. Every series 2 car uses 322 x 22mm rotors with a different rear caliper. If you're not sure, measure the rotor or send us your build date.

Which clutch fits the R34 GT-R's Getrag gearbox?

The R34 GT-R has a pull-type clutch and a six-speed Getrag gearbox from the factory, so choose a pull-type kit listed for the BNR34. Conversions do happen, so check the release bearing and slave cylinder before you order. See R34 clutch parts (/shop/nissan-skyline-r34/clutch) and our R34 GT-R clutch slip guide (/guides/r34-clutch-slip).

Do you sell GTS or GT-T Skyline parts?

No. Our catalogue is GT-R only, R32 to R35, plus universal parts that suit GT-Rs.

Do you sell NISMO parts?

Yes. We list NISMO and NISMO Heritage parts for the RB26DETT and the R32, R33 and R34 GT-R. Most are ordered from Japan and priced on application. See our NISMO page (/brands/nismo), or ask us for a part number we don't list.

Can you source R34 GT-R parts you don't list?

Yes. We source parts from Japan, the USA, Australia and New Zealand, priced on application. Imported parts usually take 1 to 2 weeks at the minimum, and we confirm the options and timings with your quote.
