An RB30/26 puts the RB26 twin-cam head on an RB30 block. For a stroked RB26 block, see our RB26 2.8 vs 2.6 guide.
The short answer
The RB30's longer stroke makes it bigger than a 2.8 stroker, but it's a bigger job, so plan it with your builder.
Where the RB30 comes from
The RB30 was a single-cam engine in the Nissan R31 Skyline and the Holden VL Commodore. It was never fitted to a GT-R.
Capacity compared
- RB26 as standard: 86.0 mm bore, 73.7 mm stroke, 2,568 cc.
- RB26 2.8 stroker: about 2,770 cc.
- RB30 as standard: 85 mm stroke and 2,962 cc.
- Nitto RB30 3.2 L kit: 90 mm stroke, 86 to 87.5 mm bores.
- Nitto also lists 3.4 L and 3.6 L kits.
An RB30/26 uses the RB30 block with its own crank, rods and pistons, plus the RB26 head and a head gasket to suit.
Nitto RB30 stroker kits
Nitto's kits pair a crank, rods and pistons for an RB26 head, in 3.2, 3.4 and 3.6 litres.
3.2 L standard rod | 3.2 L steel rod | 3.2 L wide journal | 3.4 L steel rod | 3.4 L wide journal | 3.6 L steel rod | 3.6 L wide journal
Cranks, pistons and gaskets
Nitto lists RB30 cranks with OEM or wide journals. Its DOHC pistons suit the RB26 head. Nitto's head gaskets come in 1.2, 1.5 and 1.8 mm, and its block brace comes with instructions for your machinist.
OEM journal cranks | 90 mm wide journal crank | DOHC stroker pistons | Head gaskets | Block brace
Billet block: Bullet RBx
For drag builds, Bullet's RBx is a billet RB30 block.

FAQ
Which Nitto RB30 pistons do I need with an RB26 head?
The DOHC pistons. Nitto's RB30/25NEO pistons are for the RB25 NEO head.
Will my inlet manifold and clutch master still fit?
Plazmaman says an RB26/30 sits the intake 34 mm higher, which causes clutch booster fitment issues, so an S15-style clutch master must be used.
